Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for the Intelligence Stream, you must submit your application with evidence of the following:
- Have completed or be finishing an undergraduate degree or higher by 31 December 2025.
- Be in your last two years of study or have recently graduated (within the previous five years).
- Be an Australian citizen at the time of application.
- Be willing to undergo any police, character, health, or other checks required.
- Be able to obtain and maintain a valid Australian Government security clearance when required. For more information, refer to the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA).

Locations
Most roles are based in Canberra, with potential positions in other major capital cities. Some agencies may provide financial assistance if relocation is required.
Roles are full-time, with potential for flexible work arrangements depending on your placement agency.

Application Process
Initial application
Complete your application with your resume, academic transcript, and proof of Australian citizenship. Your application is your chance to show what motivates you to pursue a career in the NIC.
Virtual assessment activities
If you are shortlisted, you will move to the online testing stage. These assessments may include work preferences, cognitive tests, and a one-way interview.
Interview
If you progress from stage 2, you will be invited to attend an online interview with a selection panel.
Security vetting
Graduates must obtain a Top Secret Positive Vetting/Privileged Access clearance. This may take up to 18-24 months. Once successfully completed, you will receive a formal offer.
