Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for the program, you must submit your application with evidence of the following:
- Be an Australian citizen
- Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and be accepted by your community as such
- Be able to provide written evidence of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage within six weeks of the application closing date
Skills you need
To be suitable for the ATO Evergreen Program, you should have most or all of the following skills:
- Be eager to learn and develop your skills in a professional environment
- Have strong communication and teamwork skills
- Show interest in providing customer service and contributing to public services

What to expect in this program
Participants gain valuable skills and experience throughout the program, working alongside dedicated people and teams. This program consists of:
- Work in Different Roles: Participate in two six-month rotations to experience various work areas within the ATO
- Provide Community Support: Help Australians meet their tax obligations by providing customer service, business support, and casework
- Develop Skills: Gain professional and technical skills while working in a supportive environment
