Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for the Intelligence Stream in the Australian Government Graduate Program (AGGP), you must submit your application with evidence of the following:
- Have completed at least an Australian Qualifications Framework Level 7 qualification (a Bachelor degree), or higher equivalent by 31 December 2027.
- Have completed your most recent eligible qualification between 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2027.
- Be an Australian citizen at the time of application.
- Be willing to undergo any police, character, health, or other checks required.
- Be able to obtain and maintain a valid Australian Government security clearance when required. For more information, refer to the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA).

Locations
Most roles are based in Canberra, with potential positions in other major capital cities. Some agencies may provide financial assistance if relocation is required.
Roles are full-time, with potential for flexible work arrangements depending on your placement agency.

Managed by the Office of National Intelligence (ONI), the Intelligence Stream recruits a range of graduate roles across the Australian Government and Commonwealth agencies.

Application Process
Initial application
Complete your application with your resume, academic transcript, and proof of Australian citizenship. Your application is your chance to show what motivates you to pursue a career in the NIC.
Virtual assessment activities
If you are shortlisted, you will move to the online testing stage. These assessments may include work preferences, cognitive tests, and a one-way interview.
Interview
If you progress from stage 2, you will be invited to attend an online interview with a selection panel.
Matching
Successful candidates will be placed into a merit pool and asked to provide agency preferences. We will match you with an appropriate participating agency based on your preferences, experience and location.
Security vetting
Graduates must obtain a Top Secret Positive Vetting/Privileged Access clearance. This can take between 12-24 months. Once successfully completed, you will receive a formal offer.
