Eligibility criteria
To apply for the APS Veteran Employment Pathway, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be a veteran with recent military service. Veterans who transitioned within the last 18 months are eligible; others may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Possess or have the ability to attain one of the following qualifications:
- Certificate III in Business or Government (APS4 level)
- Certificate IV in Business, Leadership & Management, or Government (APS5 level)
- Diploma or higher in Business, Leadership & Management, or Government (APS6/EL1 level)
What skills do you need?
To succeed in the APS Veteran Employment Pathway, you should have:
- Leadership Skills: Proven experience in leading teams and solving problems.
- Adaptability: A willingness to transition into a new environment and learn new skills.
- Teamwork: The ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively in the APS environment.

The APS Veteran Employment Pathway offers:
- Induction and Development: Participate in a 10-month development program to help you transition to your new role.
- Formal Learning and Mentoring: Gain new skills through formal learning, mentoring, and building a peer network.
- Role Variety: Work on projects or programs, contribute to the Defence community, and collaborate with teams in an office environment.
- Family Inclusion: Participate in family activities to support your transition into a civilian career.

Employment Offer
Selected candidates will receive an employment offer, and a DVA veteran employee will assist you in translating your military skills for your new APS role.
