About us

We at the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, help keep Australia safe by protecting our plants and animals from harmful pests and diseases. This helps our farming and food industries stay strong and secure.

Our work supports sustainable growth in agriculture, making sure Australia’s biosecurity stays strong.

We work with many different groups to make sure our natural resources, like land, water, and wildlife are used wisely and remain productive. This benefits both city and country communities.

We protect Australia’s industries and environment by keeping watch, doing research, and creating policies. Our goal is a future that’s both thriving and sustainable.

Locations

The Department has locations in all major cities across the country. We participate in a range of programs that are located in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Darwin, Canberra and Cairns. Relocation assistance is provided for successful candidates who need to relocate.
