Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for the Generalist Stream in the Australian Government Graduate Program (AGGP), you must submit your application with evidence of the following:
- Have completed an Australian Qualifications Framework Level 7 qualification (Bachelor degree), or higher equivalent between 1 January 2022 and 31 December 2026.
- Be an Australian citizen at the time of application.
- Be willing to undergo police, character, health, or other checks as required.
- Be able to obtain and maintain a valid Australian Government security clearance when required. For more information, refer to the Australian Government Vetting Agency (AGSVA).
Skills you need
To be suitable for a Generalist Graduate role, you should have most or all of the following skills:

Locations
Positions are available in Canberra. A limited number of positions may be available nationwide in major cities. Relocation assistance may be available for successful candidates.

Application Process
Initial application
Submit your application online. Your eligibility and suitability for the program will be assessed.
Assessments
If shortlisted, you will complete online aptitude tests. If you progress to the next stage, your written pitch is assessed. Successful candidates will then participate in a one-way online video interview.
Reference Checks
Successful candidates will under-go a referee check.
Preferences and matching
Suitable candidates are placed in the merit pool. We match you based on your qualifications, skills, experience and work location preferences. Once matched, the department or agency may contact you to discuss a graduate opportunity.

If you are offered employment the government department or agency will make you an offer, undertake pre-employment checks and complete your onboarding process.
