We administer policies and services to improve the social and economic wellbeing of individuals and families in Australian communities.

About us 

We at the Department of Social Services work in partnership with both government and non-government organisations to make a real difference across four key areas: Social Security, Families & Communities, Disability & Carers, and Housing. 

We support Australian communities, including families, children, older people, and those who need assistance with care.

By joining us, you'll work in different roles and projects that directly impact Australian communities. Completing our program will strengthen your skills in policy development, program management, and service delivery, setting you up for a successful career in our department or within the Australian Public Service (APS).

Locations 

We participate in program that are primarily located in Canberra, ACT, with limited opportunities available in our State office network. Relocation assistance is provided to candidates who relocate to Canberra.
