Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for the Economist Stream in the Australian Government Graduate Program (AGGP), you must:
- Be an Australian citizen at the time of application.
- Hold or be completing a bachelor’s degree in Economics or Econometrics, or any bachelor’s degree with a major or minor in Economics, by 31 December 2025.
- Have completed your most recent degree between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2025.
- Be willing to undergo police, character, health, or other checks as needed.
- Be able to obtain and maintain a valid Australian Government security clearance.

Locations
Most Economist graduate positions are in Canberra, with some roles available interstate. Relocation assistance may be provided by some agencies based on their policies.
