Eligibility criteria 

To be eligible for the Accounting and Financial Management Stream in the Australian Government Graduate Program (AGGP), you need to meet the following requirements: 

  • Be an Australian citizen at the time of application. 
  • Hold or be completing a bachelor's degree (or higher) by December 31, 2024. 
  • Have completed your most recent degree between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2024. 
  • Be prepared to undergo police, character, health, or other necessary checks. 
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a valid Australian Government security clearance.

Locations

Most graduate roles are based in Canberra. Some agencies may offer assistance with relocation.

Managed by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), this Data Stream recruits a significant number of graduate roles across the Australian Government and Commonwealth agencies.

The Data streams on offer consists of:

  • The chance to work alongside skilled professionals and experts

  • A full-time, permanent role upon successful completion of the 12-month program

Application Process

Initial Application

Submit your application, including a 500-word pitch, resume, academic transcripts, and proof of citizenship.

Online Testing or Video Interview

Shortlisted candidates may complete assessments for problem-solving and behavioral insights or take part in a video interview.

Assessment Centre

Selected candidates will participate in virtual activities such as panel interviews, individual presentations, and group tasks.

Matching and Offers

If found suitable, you’ll be placed in a merit pool. Agencies will then conduct a matching process and may contact you to discuss your interest, followed by an employment offer. Reference checks are also conducted at this stage.
